Test Systems has launched a new option that can be
fitted to most of our distribution amplifiers and our
frequency standard range. It is also available as
a stand alone item as a special order. Thus, is can also
be fitted to existing equipment.
This option
is a divider board that accepts a 5 MHz or 10 MHz input
and outputs programmable pulses. The output can
also be synchronized to the leading edge of a 1 PPS
(pulse per second) input, such as a GPS receiver.
The input to
the divider board can be a 5 MHz or 10 MHz signal,
either a sinewave or squarewave. Jumpers on the
board are used to select either a 5 MHz or 10 MHz input,
or either a sinewave or squarewave input.
There are
five programmable outputs. The outputs are
programmed by jumpers on the PCB.
The outputs
are pulses at TTL levels and can drive > 3.2 V into a 50
ohm load impedance.
The
frequency of each output can be independently set to 1
pps, 10 pps, 100 pps, 1000 pps or 10000 pps.
Also, the
outputs can either be positive going pulses or negative
going pulses.
Another
feature of this board is that all the outputs can be
synchronized to a 1 PPS input signal, such as the 1 pps
output of a GPS receiver. Thus the outputs can be
synchronized to UTC world time.
Because high
speed dividers are used, the output frequency is exactly
the same as the input frequency. The rising edge
of the outputs is typically faster than 5 ns and they
have very low jitter.
This board
can be fitted into the following products:
