PA500-50 Power Amplifier

Key Features

  • Class A Power Amplifier
  • 50 - 500 MHz Frequency Range
  • 50 Watts Output (+47 dBm)
  • Over temperature Protection
  • Low Noise
  • Other frequencies available

Introduction

The PA500-50 power amplifier is designed for multiple applications.  The amplifier produces 50 Watts output from a 0 dBm input, thus they have a minimum gain of 47 dB.  The frequency range is 50 to 500 MHz.  Up to 100 watts can be achieved (3 dB compression).

Reliability

The amplifier is both open circuit and short circuit proof.  The unit automatically cuts off if the maximum temperature is exceeded.

Automatic Gain Control

A unique feature of our power amplifiers is the fact that they have AGC (automatic gain control).  This ensures the output remains flat over the frequency range.

Different Frequencies

Various models exist in the PA range that operate at different frequencies.   For example the PA500-50 operates over 50 - 500 MHz with 50 watts output.  The PA960 operates over 890 to 960 MHz and produces 20 watts output.  The PA2170 operates from 1710 to 2170 MHz and has a 20 watt output.

Other frequency ranges and power outputs are available on request.

Matching Signal Generators

Precision Test Systems manufacturers a matching signal generator for this power amplifier.  The FSG20-1000 is a handheld signal generator that operates over the 20 - 1000 MHz frequency range in 1 MHz steps.  It produces a CW signal at +0 dBm.  This signal generator can be connected to the PA1000-15 and its output level will be boosted to +42 dBm or 15 watts.  This is ideal for propagation studies and field research.  It can also be sued in the lab for CE testing and general purpose testing.
